Here is some information about Dr. Rakkar’s Seminar
Who We Are
Sailing Medical Seminars was set up by Dr. Steve Rakkar M.D. for sailors who will be going offshore or explorers to remote places. The medical training for sailors seminars are set up by Dr. Steve Rakkar M.D. to help sailors cope with medical emergencies when no medical help is nearby. He had recently completed a passage to South America on his 40ft. Valiant, ALMA. He noticed the lack of medical expertise for offshore sailors and decided to offer this service. He also wanted to improve on the medical equipment which is in use by sailors.
It is an emergency service by sailors for sailors in need but can be used by other travelers. It does not replace professional medical care and it is only for help in the wilderness/offshore setting. Dr. Rakkar guides attendees in the management of emergency situations in a practical way. He has been invited to lecture on this topic at the Cruisers University at the Annapolis Sailboat show. Dr. Rakkar is based in Plano, a suburb of Dallas, Texas and conducts the seminars in Plano. Supplies are sold in a bag and medications samples are given as a courtesy at no charge (medications are not being prescribed or filled). For those who have attended, and have one of our medical bags, he also offers a consultation service for those who are actually at sea. Consultation services are not included in the cost of purchasing the bag. They are priced out individually
